Why the 101st Airborne flag?
The original owner was a member of the 101st Airborne "Screaming Eagles", 506 Parachute Infantry Division. Frank L. Davis jumped into German occupied France during the dark morning of June 6th, 1944 - "D-Day". He later made a second wartime jump into Holland during "Operation Market Garden" that liberated Holland and led up to the Battle of the Bulge. Wounded in the opening hours of The Bulge, he was taken prisoner, spent 99 days in Stalag 12A and was rescued by Patton's 3rd Armored Division. (The 101/506 was Private Ryan's outfit in the Hollywood version of D-Day "Saving Private Ryan".)

A member of the Greatest Generation, Mr. Davis returned home, married, had a family, built roads (and men through his volunteer work with scouting) for another 60 years.

The buyer also keeps the American flag.
